Skills for Care and the Modern Slavery Act
Skills for Care is a private company limited by guarantee and a charity registered in England and Wales. Its purpose is to provide practical support to leaders andmanagers within the social care sector in how to recruit, develop and lead their staff.
Skills for Care Limited is the parent company within the Skills for Care group and wholly owns the following subsidiaries:
- Skills for Care Solutions Ltd
- Affina Organisation Development Ltd
Skills for Care Ltd is also one of the four partners in the sector skills council for social care, “Skills for Care and Development” along with, Northern Ireland Social Care Council, Scottish Social Services Council and Social Care Wales.
Modern Slavery is the recruitment, movement, harbouring or receiving of children, women or men through use of force, coercion, abuse of vulnerability, deception or other means for the purpose of exploitation. This is most typically found in organisations supply chains and has been addressed by the introduction of the Modern Slavery Act in 2015, to which this statement applies.
Skills for Care and its subsidiaries are committed to carrying out business in a responsible and ethical manner. Skills for Care ensures that this is done throughout its organisation and subsidiaries through the use of Corporate policies that are communicated to all employees and sets out our commitment to acting ethically. The Skills for Care group has a zero-tolerance approach to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking and all our polices reflect this.
We take reasonable and practical steps to ensure that all our suppliers adhere to the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and review the process and procedures annually. We will only trade with those organisations who can prove that they are compliant with the Modern Slavery Act.
This statement is made in accordance with section 54 (1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes the slavery and human trafficking statement for Skills for Care and its relevant subsidiaries, from the financial year ending 31 March 2022.
