This simple, easy-to-use tool will help you create an action plan for your organisation. You’ll be able to use the tool to:

  • identify and define actions that need to be taken
  • identify who is responsible for each action
  • add timescales for all required actions
  • include details of completed actions (i.e. the date of completion and evidence of the action taken).

The tool also highlights which Key Line(s) of Enquiry (KLOE) each question relates to.

In this section you’ll evaluate the current environment of your organisation and how appropriate it is to facilitate meaningful engagement.

There are certain skills that are required to ensure activity can be enabled and promoted within a caring environment. Strong communication skills are fundamental for understanding a person’s needs; motivational skills are important in engaging individuals; and core skills such as observational, recording, reflection and organisational skills are all fundamental in ensuring good activity provision. The questions within this section will help you assess your current skill provision.

Social and community links can play an important role in meaningful engagement but due to personal circumstances of the individuals, it can be easy to lose these links. This section will provide you with the opportunity to review the current links you have with the community or other organisation and how you utilise these relationships for the benefit of creating meaningful activities.

  1. Click on the links to access each self-assessment tool.
  2. Save the tool to your computer.
  3. Answer each question, remembering to save your answers as you go.
  4. Once you have answered all the questions you now have your action plan.
  5. As you achieve each action update your plan with the date of completion and evidence what you did.
  6. Finally, return to the original question. Can you now answer “yes”? If so, select this answer and move onto the next action point. If not, identify the next action that is required and repeat the process.
